Description

The cyber threat landscape has changed fundamentally. Disinformation, AI-driven attacks and hybrid warfare are posing new challenges for businesses, governments and society alike. At the same time, the EU is intensifying its own engagement with Artificial Intelligence in the context of cybersecurity — and is responding to emerging threats through regulation and support programmes, most notably the Cyber Resilience Act.

Against this backdrop, the Plattform Industrie 4.0 Austria, as a consortium partner of the SECURE project, is hosting an online knowledge exchange event bringing together experts from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence and ENISA, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity.

Programme

Cyber, Disinformation and AI: The Battle in Cyberspace (in German)
Bgdr Mag. Christof W. Tatschl, Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence, Chief of Staff and Deputy Director of the ICT & Cyber Directorate

The conduct of conflicts and wars has changed in recent years at all levels. The threats in the cyber and information domains, exacerbated by the ubiquitous use of AI, represent an ever-present challenge for the state, democracy, the economy and, ultimately, for the resilience and defence capability of a state.

Securing Europe amid Evolving Cyber Threats: ENISA’s Frontier AI Testing, Expanding Mandates and the EU’s Regulatory Response (in English)
Dr. Alexandros Zacharis, AI Team Leader, ENISA

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the cyber threat landscape — and Europe is responding. Drawing on ENISA’s hands-on experience from testing frontier AI systems, this presentation examines both the opportunities and risks that AI introduces for cybersecurity, and broadens the lens to look at how the EU is strengthening its overall cyber resilience through expanding mandates, new regulatory frameworks and coordinated action across Member States.

Cyber Resilience Act: From Requirements to Practice (in German)
Stefanie Werderits, Project Manager & Policy Advisor, Plattform Industrie 4.0 Austria

The Cyber Resilience Act introduces new cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements — and new challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises. This presentation introduces the SECURE guidelines, tools and freely available resources, and shows how companies can use them to prepare for CRA compliance and strengthen their cyber resilience.

Please note: the presentations will be held partly in German and partly in English (as indicated above).
